About Coleogyne ramosissima Torr.

Coleogyne ramosissima Torr., commonly called blackbrush, is a low-growing soft-wooded perennial shrub. It has dark grayish-green foliage, an aromatic scent, and spiny branches. This species is native to the deserts of the southwestern United States. It gets the common name blackbrush because its gray branches turn darker when wet by rain. It belongs to the rose family (Rosaceae), and is the only species in the monotypic genus Coleogyne.
