Colchicum laetum Steven is a species belonging to the genus Colchicum. Its natural range extends from southeastern Russia to the Caucasus. In cultivation, a plant commonly labeled as Colchicum laetum 'Pink Star' is thought to actually be a selection of Colchicum × byzantinum. Flowers of Colchicum laetum are pale purple-pink with rounded ends. The petals of each individual bloom are often held parallel to the surface of the soil.
