About Colasposoma dauricum Mannerheim, 1849
Colasposoma dauricum Mannerheim, 1849 is a species of leaf beetle native to eastern Asia. It was first formally described by Carl Gustaf Mannerheim in 1849. This species is recognized as a pest of sweet potatoes. Colasposoma dauricum is closely related to the similar species Colasposoma viridicoeruleum, which was formerly named Colasposoma auripenne. Some taxonomic treatments classify these two forms as a single species, with Colasposoma dauricum dauricum as the northern subspecies, and Colasposoma dauricum auripenne as the southern subspecies. Its confirmed native distribution includes Russia (Siberia and the Russian Far East), Kazakhstan, Mongolia, northern and northeastern China, Taiwan, North Korea, South Korea, and Japan. Since 2010, Colasposoma dauricum has also been recorded in Piedmont, Italy, where it is an invasive species.
