The female Colaranea viriditas has a recorded body length of 5.7 mm, while the male has a recorded body length of 5.2 mm. The carapace and legs of this species range in color from dark to yellowish brown. Most of the abdomen is bright green on its dorsal side, and the remaining portion of the abdomen is brown. This species is endemic to New Zealand, where it is widespread across the country, including the Chatham Islands.
