This species was previously classified within the genus Elaphe. Its confirmed distribution includes Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, India (Andaman Islands), Indonesia (Java, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Bali), Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
