About Cochylidia heydeniana (Herrich-Schäffer, 1851)

Cochylidia heydeniana, commonly known as the blue-fleabane conch, is a species of moth belonging to the family Tortricidae. This species was first described by Gottlieb August Wilhelm Herrich-Schäffer in 1851. Its range extends from most of Europe eastwards to China’s Xinjiang region, Mongolia, Korea, Russia, and Japan. It inhabits dry pastures, wastelands, and sand dunes. The wingspan of adult moths measures 9–13 millimetres, which equals 0.35–0.51 inches. Adults produce two generations per year, and are active on the wing from April to May, then again in July. The larvae of this moth feed on three plant species: Erigeron acer, Conyza canadensis, and Solidago virgaurea. Larvae have been documented feeding on plant seeds, and also living and feeding inside plant shoots.
