About Cochlospermum regium (Schrank) Pilg.

Cochlospermum regium, commonly called the yellow cotton tree, is known as Algodao do cerrado in Portuguese and suphannika in Thai (RTGS transliteration). It is a small flowering tree originally native to the Cerrado tropical savanna of South America, where it occurs in Bolivia, Brazil, and Paraguay. It is now also widely established in Southeast Asia. This species produces bright yellow flowers that have antioxidant properties. In Thailand, it is the designated provincial flower of Nakhon Nayok, Sara Buri, Buri Ram, Suphan Buri and Uthai Thani Provinces.
