About Clepsis peritana (Clemens, 1860)

Clepsis peritana, commonly known as the garden tortrix or strawberry garden tortrix, is a moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. This species is found in Spain, Cuba, and North America. In North America, it has been recorded from southern Canada across the entire United States. The wingspan of Clepsis peritana measures 10–15 mm for males and 12–15 mm for females. Adult moths can be found on the wing from March to September, producing multiple generations each year. The larvae feed on a variety of plants including Chrysanthemum, Cynara cardunculus, Senecio jacobaea, Stachys, Fragaria, Citrus, Scrophularia californica, and Solanum torvum. When fully grown, larvae reach a length of 13–14 mm. Full-grown larvae have a light green abdomen, though overall body colour can vary depending on which host plant the larvae feed on. The larval head is yellowish brown.
