About Clemensia umbrata Packard, 1872

Clemensia albata, commonly known as the little white lichen moth, is a moth species belonging to the family Erebidae. This species was first described by Alpheus Spring Packard in 1864. It is native to eastern North America, with its range extending west across boreal Canada to southeastern British Columbia. Along the Pacific Coast, the species' range extends south to Monterey Bay in west-central California. It inhabits moist forest environments, including coastal rainforests, oak woodlands, and mixed hardwood forests. The forewings of adult little white lichen moths measure 10 to 11 millimeters in length. Adults are active in flight from late June to early September, and they have been recorded feeding on algae.
