About Cleistocactus parviflorus (K.Schum.) Rol.-Goss.
Cleistocactus parviflorus grows as a shrub with upright green shoots that branch slightly at the base. It reaches heights of up to 3 meters, with shoots up to 4 centimeters in diameter. This cactus has 12 to 15 clearly notched ribs. Its spines vary in color, ranging from brown to yellowish to greenish. It produces 1 to 3 thicker yellow central spines that can grow up to 2.5 centimeters long, along with 5 to 9 radial spines that reach up to 4 millimeters long. The straight flowers are 2.5 to 3.5 centimeters long and 8 millimeters wide; they are red overall with yellow accents and purple tepals. Its yellow fruits grow up to 1 centimeter in diameter. Cleistocactus parviflorus is found in the dry montane forest of the Bolivian departments of Santa Cruz and Cochabamba, growing at altitudes between 1400 and 3000 meters.
