About Clavelina lepadiformis (Müller, 1776)
Scientific name: Clavelina lepadiformis (Müller, 1776). The transparent tunic of this species, which lets its yellow or white internal organs be clearly seen, is where its common name comes from. This is a common shallow-water ascidian found in Great Britain and Ireland. Its range extends from Norway along the European coasts, south all the way to the Mediterranean. Studies have confirmed that cryptic species exist within this group in the Mediterranean.
