About Claoxylon indicum (Reinw. ex Blume) Hassk.
Claoxylon indicum (Reinw. ex Blume) Hassk. is a pyramid-shaped shrub or small tree that reaches 2โ10 meters in height. Its branches are grey, hairy, and marked by large leaf scars. The leaves are oval, and measure 80โ300 millimeters in length. The slender male inflorescence grows 30โ150 millimeters long and holds many flowers, while the female inflorescence is 15โ80 millimeters long. The lobed fruit has a diameter of 7โ10 millimeters, and the seeds are round, black, and wrinkled. This species is widely distributed across southern and south-eastern Asia, ranging from India and southern China, through Indochina and Malesia, to Sulawesi. It also grows on Christmas Island, an Australian territory located in the north-eastern Indian Ocean south of Java. It is common in roadsides, railway areas, forest edges, and forest clearings.
