About Cladonia phyllophora Hoffm.

Cladonia phyllophora Hoffm., commonly known as the felt Cladonia, is a widely distributed species of fruticose lichen belonging to the family Cladoniaceae. German naturalist Georg Franz Hoffmann first described it as a new species in 1796. This lichen grows on rotting wood and soil, in both open and shaded environments, and has been recorded across Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America.
