About Cladonia leporina Fr., 1831
Cladonia leporina is a species of lichen that belongs to the family Cladoniaceae. It was formally described as a new species in 1831 by Swedish mycologist Elias Magnus Fries. In North America, this species is commonly known by the colloquial name jester lichen. A recorded population sighting in New York state represents the northernmost known occurrence of Cladonia leporina.
