About Cistus ocymoides Brot.

Cistus ocymoides Brot., also known by the synonym Halimium ocymoides and the common name basil-leaved rock rose, is a flowering plant species belonging to the family Cistaceae. It is native to the Iberian Peninsula, specifically Portugal and Spain, as well as northern Morocco in Northwest Africa. It is an erect evergreen shrub that grows 60 cm (24 inches) tall and 100 cm (3 feet) wide. It produces woolly grey-green leaves and bright yellow flowers in spring. Each petal of these flowers may feature a dark brown blotch at its base. When grown in cultivation, this plant needs sandy soil and full sun.
