About Cistus creticus L.

Cistus creticus L., commonly called pink rock-rose or hoary rock-rose, is a shrubby plant species belonging to the Cistaceae family. This species is highly variable, though its flowers are most often pink and measure 4.5 to 5 cm (1.8 to 2.0 in) in diameter. It is widely cultivated and known as a decorative garden plant. It is frequently mislabeled as "Cistus incanus"; the true Cistus × incanus is a hybrid between C. albidus and C. crispus. This species is native to the central and eastern Mediterranean Basin, including Morocco, Corsica, Sardinia, Italy, southeastern Europe, Turkey, and the Levant.
