About Cistus clusii Dunal

Cistus clusii Dunal is a heavily branched shrub that grows up to 1 meter (3 feet) tall. Its leaves are narrowly linear, typically 1โ€“2.5 cm (0.4โ€“1.0 in) long by 1โ€“2 mm (0.04โ€“0.08 in) wide, with revolute (rolled under) edges. The upper surface of the leaves is green, while the lower surface is densely covered in short hairs that give it a whitish look. Flowers of this species grow in umbel-like cymes, with up to 12 individual flowers per cyme. Each flower measures 2โ€“3 cm (0.8โ€“1.2 in) across, and has five white petals and three sepals that are 5โ€“8 mm (0.2โ€“0.3 in) long. The flower stalks (peduncles and pedicels) and sepals are covered in long white hairs, and the flower style is short. Cistus clusii Dunal is native to north Africa, the western Mediterranean region, and the central Mediterranean region. Its native range includes southern Spain, the Balearic Islands, south-east Italy, and Sicily.
