About Cistus albidus L.
Cistus albidus L. grows up to 1 meter (3 feet) tall. Its leaves range from oblong to elliptical in shape, and usually measure 2โ5 cm (0.8โ2.0 in) long by 0.5โ2 cm (0.2โ0.8 in) wide. Leaves have three prominent veins, and are densely covered with short hairs that give them a greyish-white appearance. Flowers grow in cymes containing 1 to 7 individual flowers; each open flower is 4โ6 cm (1.6โ2.4 in) across, with five purple to pink petals and five sepals. This species is native to western Southern Europe and western North Africa, especially the Mediterranean region. Confirmed native locations include Portugal, Spain, the Balearic Islands, France, Corsica, Italy, Sardinia, and Morocco.
