About Cisthene barnesii (Dyar, 1904)

Cisthene barnesii, commonly known as Barnes' lichen moth, is a moth species that belongs to the family Erebidae. This species was first described by Harrison Gray Dyar Jr. in 1904. It is found in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States, with its range extending from southern Montana and western North Dakota south to the Arizona and New Mexico border with Mexico. This moth inhabits dry bunchgrass steppe environments. The forewings of adult individuals measure 11 to 12 millimeters in length. Adult moths have been recorded in flight from mid-July to late August.
