About Cissusa indiscreta Edwards, 1886

Cissusa indiscreta, commonly known as the indiscreet cissusa moth, is a species of moth belonging to the family Erebidae. This species is distributed from British Columbia south to California, and in the southwestern United States it occurs from Arizona to central Colorado. Its typical habitat includes oak woodlands and mixed hardwood forests. The wingspan of Cissusa indiscreta ranges from 35 to 41 mm. The ground colour of its forewings is variable, shifting between orange-toned or grey-toned tan shades, and darker brown. Adults have one generation per year, and are active on wing during spring. The larvae of this moth feed on Quercus species, which includes Quercus garryana.
