Cirsium wheeleri (A.Gray) Petr. is a North American plant species belonging to the tribe Cardueae in the family Asteraceae. Its common name is Wheeler's thistle. This species is native to northern Mexico, specifically the states of Chihuahua and Sonora, and the southwestern United States, including Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, and Nevada. Cirsium wheeleri is a perennial herb that grows up to 60 cm (2 feet) tall and has a large taproot. Its leaves are lined with slender spines. The plant produces one or more flower heads; each flower head contains white, pink, or pale purple disc florets and has no ray florets. It grows in mountain meadows and open conifer forests.
