About Cirrochroa aoris Doubleday, 1847

Cirrochroa aoris, commonly known as the large yeoman, is a species of nymphalid butterfly. This species is found in forested regions of tropical South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is extremely similar in appearance to Cirrochroa tyche. The two species can be distinguished by only slight differences: C. aoris has a more irregular, toothed wing shape, and differs from C. tyche in its base wing color, which shows brown or blue hues. C. aoris also has distinctive wing markings, and telling it apart from C. tyche often requires close inspection of wing spots and edges.
