About Cicindela denikei Brown, 1934

Cicindela denikei, commonly called the Laurentian tiger beetle, is a species of tiger beetle that belongs to the subfamily Cicindelinae. It is found in Minnesota, Manitoba, and Ontario. This species has green elytra, and reaches a body length of 13–15 millimetres, or 0.51–0.59 inches. It inhabits areas of gravel and sand, as well as coniferous forests, and preys on other insect species. Adult Laurentian tiger beetles hunt either by ambushing waiting prey or chasing it down. Larvae typically dig burrows, where they wait for potential prey to pass nearby. When an unsuspecting arthropod comes into view, the larva opens its jaws and eats the prey.
