About Cicindela batesi Fleutiaux, 1894

Cicindela batesi Fleutiaux, 1894 (also referred to as Cosmodela batesi) has a body length ranging from 15 to 21 mm. Most of its body is metallic blue-green, with yellow, orange, and red coloration distributed across its body. Large orange-red markings are often present on the top of its head and the sides of its pronotum, and its antennae are blue-green with a metallic shine. It has large black compound eyes, and prominent white mandibles that have dark blue-green tips. Small white hairs cover the sides of its body and its legs. Each elytron has four white spots along its side, and the spot closest to the thorax is the smallest of the four. This species is found in Taiwan, mainland China, Green Island, and Orchid Island. It typically occurs in flat to mid-altitude mountain areas at elevations below 1000 m.
