About Cichladusa guttata (Heuglin, 1862)
The spotted palm thrush (Cichladusa guttata), also called the spotted morning-thrush, is a bird species belonging to the Muscicapidae family. These are small birds whose plumage is primarily brown, black, and cream. They occur in eastern African countries including Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. Their natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, dry savanna, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland. This species is a forager that feeds on invertebrates, and individuals produce a range of different vocal duets as a form of communication. The spotted palm thrush is distributed across most of Ethiopia, South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Somalia, and Tanzania; it can also be found in the easternmost areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the southernmost parts of Sudan. These birds commonly live in dense undergrowth habitats within savannas and woodlands, as well as in dry watercourses, thickets, and scrub habitats.
