Chukrasia tabularis A.Juss. is a tall tree species with a cylindrical trunk and a spreading crown. The species has sometimes been treated as C. velutina, and its leaves are abruptly pinnate or bipinnate, with leaflets that are alternate or subopposite, have entire margins, and are unequal at the base. The rather large, erect, oblong flowers are borne in terminal panicles, and each flower has four to five petals. Mature fruits are three to five valved capsules that split septifragally. This is one of the largest tree species native to South Asia and the East Indies. One specimen located near Kanchanaburi, Thailand measures 21 meters (69 feet) in girth and reaches 65 meters (213 feet) in height.
