About Chrysoritis thysbe
Chrysoritis thysbe has a wingspan of 24โ32 mm for males, and 23โ35 mm for females. Adult individuals are active throughout the year, with activity peaks in October and March. The larvae of this species feed on Chrysanthemoides incana, Chrysanthemoides monilifera, Osteospermum polygaloides, Lebeckia plukenetiana, and species from the genera Aspalathus, Zygophyllum, and Thesium. Pupae of the subspecies C. thysbe osbecki are found on the trunks of various plants including Tylecodon paniculatus, Roepera species, and Thesium species. These pupae are attended by Crematogaster peringueyi ants, which is the same behavior seen in the subspecies C. thysbe psyche.
