About Chrysophyllum argenteum Jacq.
Chrysophyllum argenteum Jacq. can grow up to 30 meters (100 feet) tall, with a trunk diameter of up to 50 centimeters (20 inches). Larger individuals of this species may have buttresses. Its grey bark is fissured. Its leaves are elliptic or oblong in shape and grow up to 15 centimeters (6 inches) long. Flower fascicles hold up to 10 flowers that range in color from cream to green. Its ellipsoid fruits measure up to 2.5 centimeters (1 inch) long, and ripen to a purple to black color. Chrysophyllum argenteum is native to a broad region spanning from the Caribbean to Central America and tropical South America. It grows in multiple types of forest and in grasslands, at altitudes up to 1,600 meters (5,200 feet).
