Distribution and Social Behavior

This solitary, subterranean species is restricted to the coastal areas of the southwestern and southern Cape in South Africa.

Foraging and Burrowing Adaptations

When foraging for small soil invertebrates and small lizards, these golden moles dig superficial burrows with their conical nose shield and highly modified forefeet.
