About Chorthippus dorsatus (Zetterstedt, 1821)

Chorthippus dorsatus (Zetterstedt, 1821) is a species of grasshopper in the family Acrididae, subfamily Gomphocerinae. It is distributed across the Palearctic region. In Central Europe, the species generally occurs at altitudes between 500 and 800 meters. It can be found as high as 1800 meters in Switzerland, and reaches over 2200 meters in Bulgaria. The species prefers humid to moist meadows, particularly areas surrounding moors. It can also be found growing on moderately dry meadows, but avoids heavily agricultural or fertilized meadows.
