Chorizanthe procumbens Nutt. is a species of flowering plant in the buckwheat family, commonly known as prostrate spineflower. It is native to California and Baja California, where it grows in scrub and chaparral habitats. The species is variable in appearance: plants can grow up to 25 centimeters long, or be much shorter, and usually grow prostrate along the ground. Its color is often yellowish green, but grayish and reddish forms also exist. Its inflorescence is a cluster of flowers; each tiny white or yellow flower is surrounded by bracts tipped with spines.
