About Choristoneura diversana (Hübner, 1814-1817)
Choristoneura diversana is a moth species that belongs to the Tortricidae family. It can be found across Great Britain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary, Romania, Norway, Sweden, Finland, the Baltic region, Russia, and the Near East. To the east, its range extends as far as China's Heilongjiang province, Korea, and Japan. This species inhabits gardens, scrub areas, and fens. The wingspan of males is 15–20 mm, while the wingspan of females is 19–23 mm. In western Europe, adult Choristoneura diversana have been recorded in flight between June and August. The larvae of this species feed on a wide range of host plants, including species from the genera Acer pictum, Achillea (including Achillea millefolium), Alnus (including Alnus hirsuta), Betula, Lonicera (including Lonicera periclymenum), Trifolium, Quercus (including Quercus acutissima and Quercus robur), Syringa, Populus (including Populus nigra), Salix, Ulmus (including Ulmus davidiana and Ulmus laciniata), Prunus, and Pyrus. They also feed on Morus bombycis, Abies concolor, Abies holophylla, Abies sachalinensis, Larix kaempferi, Picea jezoensis, Rhamnus cathartica, Malus pumila, and Malus sylvestris. The larvae live inside spun or rolled leaves of their host plants.
