About Chlorophonia callophrys (Cabanis, 1861)

The golden-browed chlorophonia, scientific name Chlorophonia callophrys (Cabanis, 1861), is a brightly colored bird that is easily distinguished from other species within its range. Males are bright green on their upperparts and yellow on their underparts. They have a wide golden-yellow eyebrow stripe, a violet-blue cap, a narrow blue eye ring, and a thin blue line that stretches from the nape to the breast. Females share a similar overall appearance to males, but lack the male's golden brow and yellow breast; both of these features are green in females. Adults of this species average 13 centimeters (5.1 inches) in length. Its call is a soft whistling wheeeeuuu.
