About Chlorobalius leucoviridis Tepper, 1896
Chlorobalius leucoviridis (described by Tepper in 1896) is a species of katydid. Adult Chlorobalius leucoviridis are large katydids with cryptic coloration. Their bodies, wings, and legs are marked with green and white bars and spots. The legs have short spines. Both males and females of this species have stridulatory (sound-producing) organs: males have a file-and-scraper structure located on the tegmen, or fore-wing, while females have pegs on the hind wing that rub against specific veins on the fore-wing. This species is native to the arid inland regions of Australia, where it is typically found high up in large bushes or small trees.
