About Chlorissa cloraria (Hübner)

Chlorissa cloraria (Hübner), commonly known as the southern grass emerald, is a species of moth belonging to the family Geometridae. It can be found across most of Europe, with the exception of Ireland, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, and northern Russia. The wingspan of this moth ranges from 18 to 20 mm. Adult southern grass emerald moths are active on the wing during the months of May and June. The larvae of Chlorissa cloraria are polyphagous, feeding on a variety of trees, shrubs, and low-growing plants; known host plants include Corylus avellana and species from the Crataegus genus. Larvae of this species can be found from June through September.
