Chloris barbata Sw., synonymized as Chloris inflata, is commonly known as swollen fingergrass or purpletop chloris. It is a widespread flowering plant species belonging to the grass family Poaceae. It is native to drier regions of the Old World tropics and subtropics, and has been introduced to the southern United States, most of Latin America and the Caribbean, many tropical islands, and Australia. It is classified as an invasive weed species, and acts as a host for a number of serious agricultural pest species.
