About Chliaria kina (Hewitson, 1869)
This is a description of the butterfly species Chliaria kina. Each of its hindwings has two tails. On the underside of the wings, both males and females have same-colour pale grey markings and a distinctive black edge. The pattern of these markings is similar to that of the orchid tit, Chliaria othona. There are no distinct markings below the costal vein at the anterior part of the forewings. Males have pale-blue markings above the costal vein on the forewing, and the upperside of the hindwings has a broad black border. The posterior area between the border and the discoidal vein is violet in colour. Females are dark brown with black borders above the discoidal vein, and have a white discal posterior section. In both sexes, the veins on the upperside of the hindwings appear very dark. This species is distributed across northwest India from the Doon Valley to Assam, Bhutan, Burma, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Peninsular Malaya, Tsekou (Yanmen, Yunnan), and Taiwan.
