Chironius spixii (Hallowell, 1845) can reach a total length of 1.75 meters (5.7 feet) when fully grown, including the tail. This species is geographically distributed across Colombia and Venezuela. Its preferred natural habitat consists of forest or savanna, located at altitudes ranging from near sea level up to 800 meters (2,600 feet). It has also been observed living in human-modified areas including plantations and pastures. Chironius spixii reproduces by laying eggs, meaning it is oviparous.
