About Chenopodium nitrariaceum (F.Muell.) F.Muell. ex Benth.
Chenopodium nitrariaceum, commonly called nitre goosefoot, is a perennial shrub that grows to around 2 meters (6 feet 7 inches) tall, and has spiky branches. Its leaves are arranged alternately, are greyish-green, sometimes clustered, and range from spoon-shaped to linear in form. They measure 5–25 mm (0.20–0.98 in) long, mostly up to 5 mm (0.20 in) wide, have occasional hairs, and taper to a short peduncle. Small flowers are borne in terminal clusters, have 5 lobes, and are 1.5–2 mm (0.059–0.079 in) in diameter. Flowering can occur at any time of year, and the fruit is a small, dry, white pericarp. This species grows on clay, clay-loam, and stony sites located on floodplains, in wetter areas, and on sand plains, across New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and the Northern Territory.
