About Chasiempis sandwichensis (Gmelin, 1789)

The Hawaiʻi ʻelepaio (scientific name Chasiempis sandwichensis (Gmelin, 1789)), also called the Hawaiian ʻelepaio, is a monarch flycatcher that occurs on the Big Island of Hawaii. Before 2010, this species was considered to be the same species (conspecific) as the two other existing ʻelepaio species: the Kauaʻi ʻelepaio (Chasiempis sclateri) and the Oʻahu ʻelepaio (Chasiempis ibidis).
