Chaerophyllum tainturieri Hook. & Arn. has two common names: hairyfruit chervil and southern chervil. It is an annual forb that is native to the southeastern United States, and has disjunct populations in Arizona and New Mexico. This is a common plant that grows in glades, fields, and disturbed areas. In spring, it produces small white flowers arranged in umbels. This species was used for a germination study that discovered a previously unknown type of seed dormancy.
