About Chaenactis parishii A.Gray
Chaenactis parishii is a subshrub that produces multiple erect stems reaching up to 60 centimeters (24 inches) tall. These stems are covered in a white, felt-like coat of hairs. Its woolly leaves are a few centimeters long, and divided into many small lobes. The inflorescence holds flower heads on a tall, erect peduncle. Each flower head is lined with grayish woolly phyllaries, and contains many white or pink-tinted flowers. The fruit it produces is an achene with a pappus made of scales. This species is native to the Peninsular Ranges of southern California (San Diego County and western Riverside County) and northern Baja California, where it grows in chaparral habitat.
