Cethosia hypsea, commonly known as the Malay lacewing, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Nymphalidae. This species can be found in the region stretching from Myanmar to Indonesia, as well as in the Philippines. The wingspan of adult Cethosia hypsea measures approximately 80 mm. The larvae of this butterfly feed on plants from the Adenia genus. Larvae are wine red in color, have long spines, and are poisonous.
