About Cerioporus leptocephalus (Jacq.) Zmitr.
This fungal species has the scientific name Cerioporus leptocephalus (Jacq.) Zmitr. Young caps are convex, and quickly flatten into a mostly irregular shape. Young caps are red-brown, while older caps are yellowish grey, and caps reach up to around 4 centimetres (1+1โ2 inches) in diameter. The fungal pores are white, and turn slightly brown when bruised, and the spores are white. The stem is light yellowish brown, and often has a black base. In North America, this species can be found from January to April on the West Coast, and from May to July in the east. It usually grows on hardwood twigs and branches.
