About Cerastium alpinum L.

Cerastium alpinum, commonly known as alpine mouse-ear or alpine chickweed, is a mat-forming perennial plant. This species was first formally described by Carl Linnaeus in 1753. It is native to Greenland, Canada, and northern Europe. It is cultivated for use in rock gardens, valued for its numerous small white flowers and silver-haired stems and foliage. There are three recognized subspecies of Cerastium alpinum.
