About Centaurea uniflora Turra

Centaurea uniflora Turra grows 40 to 50 centimeters tall. Its whole structure is densely covered in short, rough hairs. It has an erect, leafy stem that bears only one large, visible purplish-pink flower. The green-gray leaves are dotted, shaped like narrow lances, and measure less than one centimeter across. This species flowers from July through September. Its achenes are grayish brown. It can be found naturally in Austria, Albania, Bulgaria, Montenegro, France, Greece, Italy, Hungary, North Macedonia, Romania, Slovenia, Serbia, and Switzerland. It is an alpine plant that grows in mountainous regions of southeastern Europe, at altitudes above 1500 meters. It occupies warm, dry, nutrient-rich soils in meadows and on hillsides.
