About Celypha aurofasciana (Haworth, 1811)

Celypha aurofasciana is a small moth species belonging to the family Tortricidae. It is native to Europe and the Palearctic, and occurs as an introduced species in some other regions. This moth has a wingspan of 12–14 mm. Its face is white. The forewings are yellow, with dark fuscous strigulation and leaden grey striation that becomes stronger toward the posterior end. The basal patch and central fascia are dark fuscous, and the space between them forms a broad, slightly curved pale fascia marked with striations. A dark fuscous streak runs from the costa at the 2/3 position to the middle of the termen. The hindwings are dark grey. The larva is pale yellow, with a black head and a reddish second thoracic plate. Adults are active on the wing from June to July. Larvae feed on rotting wood.
