About Celotes nessus (Edwards, 1877)
Celotes nessus, commonly known as the common streaky-skipper, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Hesperiidae. This species is distributed in North America, ranging from southern Arizona, southern New Mexico, and western Texas southward to northern Mexico. Rare stray individuals can occasionally be found as far north as southern Oklahoma and northern Louisiana. The wingspan of adult common streaky-skippers measures 22 to 30 mm. In Texas, this species produces several generations per year, with adults active on the wing from March to September. Larvae of Celotes nessus feed on multiple mallow species, including Sphaeralcea and Sida filipes. Adult butterflies feed on flower nectar.
