About Celmisia verbascifolia Hook.fil.

Scientific name: Celmisia verbascifolia Hook.fil. (original description refers to Celmisia major var. brevis)

Celmisia major var. brevis has a woody base and short branchlets. Leaves grow in clusters at the tips of these branchlets, forming either a loose mat or a single rosette. Leaves are elliptic or oblong in shape. Their upper surface ranges from pale to mid-green, and may be covered in fine hairs when the leaves are young. The lower leaf surface is cream-colored. This plant produces flower heads that have white ray petals and yellow disc florets. Its fruit is a fusiform-cylindric, ribbed achene, and the fruit’s pappus is made up of bristles of unequal length.
