About Celmisia tomentella M.Gray & Given
Celmisia tomentella is a perennial herb species that belongs to the Asteraceae family. Its leaves range from 5 to 30 cm in length and 5 to 15 mm in width, with an upper surface that is dark green or grey-green. The species produces daisy-like flowerheads that measure 6 to 8 cm across, and these flowerheads appear from December to February within the species' native range. This species was first formally described in 1999, in the publication "New species and a new combination in Australian Celmisia (Asteraceae-Astereae)" that appeared in Australian Systematic Botany. It grows in woodland, heath, and bog habitats in subalpine areas. Its distribution includes subalpine areas in Victoria such as the Baw Baw plateau, the Bogong High Plains, and Mount Buffalo, and extends north into south-eastern New South Wales.
